Eagan Neighbors,

Over 30 years ago, my wife Janelle and I chose Eagan. We bought our first home in the Burr Oaks neighborhood, raised our son Ian here, and put down roots in a community that felt different — neighborly, well-run, and genuinely focused on the people who lived here.

And over 20 years ago, you, Eagan, chose me as mayor for the same reasons.

It's been an honor and a privilege serving Eagan — first as a member of the city council and for the last 20 years as your mayor. Through recession, pandemic, and increasing political turbulence, we've stayed true to ourselves as a community: stable, steady, forward-moving, and focused on what matters most to the people and families who call this home.

We've built something here that makes Eagan genuinely special — a diverse, welcoming community that has grown as a place for the arts and deepened its commitment to sustainability. Public safety is excellent, parks are exceptional, and neighbors help neighbors. We've done this while holding to our principles of fiscal responsibility and stewardship, maintaining some of the lowest per-capita costs in the metro. None of that happens by accident.

I'm a truly nonpartisan candidate — not endorsed by a party machine or partisan politicians. My support comes from Eagan neighbors and business owners, and from past and present council members, mayors, and police chiefs I've worked alongside of for over 20 years to build a safe, stable community where you can live, work, raise a family, and build a business without the instability and noise of other more political communities.

We are in a particularly difficult moment — a time of hyper-partisan division and uncertainty descending upon us from Washington DC to the State Capital in St. Paul. I'm not focused on those fights. In my time as mayor, Eagan has been a successful city and a strong community because city hall has been shelter from the political storms that swirl around us.  I'm focused on Eagan, and on getting through this moment intact, healthy, and even stronger. 

In this time, Eagan faces real challenges and there are important decisions ahead — redevelopment of pandemic scarred flagship campuses in our community; keeping housing and local government affordable for Eagan residents and taxpayers; the proliferation of hyperscale AI data centers, ensuring these decisions include community voices and growing in ways that strengthen rather than strain what we've built. 

Rising to these challenges will take the same tested, proven approach that has carried us through in the past: steady, thoughtful, consistent, understanding leadership committed to Eagan -- undistracted by the pressures and noise that threaten our course of direction.

Eagan and I have always chosen our own path — grounded in what works, not what's loudest. I'm asking for your vote to keep it that way.
