Eagan Neighbors,

Over 30 years ago, my wife Janelle and I chose Eagan. We bought our first home in the Burr Oaks neighborhood, started our family here, and put down roots in a community that felt different — neighborly, well-run, and genuinely focused on the people who lived here.

And over 20 years ago, you, Eagan, chose me for the same reasons.

I’ve had the pleasure and privilege of living and serving both of those choices — first as a City Council member, and for the last 20 years as your mayor. What I’m most proud of is that through growth and recession, pandemic and political turbulence, we’ve stayed together and true to ourselves: steady, forward-moving, and focused on what matters to the people and families who call this home.

We’ve built something here that makes Eagan a genuinely special place - a diverse, progressive, welcoming community that has grown as a place for the arts, deepened its commitment to sustainability. A place where public safety is excellent, parks are exceptional, neighbors help neighbors, and they’re proud of where they live. 

We’ve done all this while remaining committed to the enduring principles of fiscal responsibility, stewardship, and maintained some of the lowest per-capita costs in the metro.

None of that happens by accident.

I’m asking for your vote because our work isn’t finished. Eagan faces real decisions — about development & redevelopment and how we grow in ways that strengthen rather than strain what we’ve built.  In the politically turbulent times of the Trump 2.0 atmosphere charged with the energy of chaos, cruelty, and corruption; getting to the other side will require experience, relationships, and the steady hand of someone who has demonstrated he can - as I have for 20 years - remain focused on the issues that matter to Eagan; someone who still believes, as I always have, that the best answers come from listening, living, working, and at times, struggling through — together with you.

Eagan and I have always chosen our own paths — grounded in what works, not what’s loudest. I’m committed to keeping it that way and ask for your support once more.
